Start Here, Finish at FAMU

We make it easy for you to start at NFC and finish at FAMU with the IGNITE program. Enjoy a seamless transfer. While at NFC, you’ll have the support you need to stay on track, like NFC and FAMU academic advisors, academic maps for your intended FAMU major, priority advising sessions, and IGNITE guarantees your admission to FAMU when you earn an AA at NFC.* * Limited access programs may require additional admissions and prerequisite requirements.


Program Benefits

  • One-on-one advising with transfer-focused NFC advisors
  • FAMU advising is available. Monthly schedule available on MYNFC website
  • Transfer information for students who plan on applying for a limited-access program at FAMU
  • Students with at least 50 credit hours and a GPA of 3.0 can get an IGNITE Card and free access to most FAMU activities, including campus recreation and Rattler athletic events.
    • If eligible to receive the IGNITE Card, IGNITE at NFC students can also purchase a Gym Membership at FAMU.

The Florida Community College (Ignite) Scholarship

Scholarship awards are limited. Awards will be made based upon the competitiveness of the current pool of candidates and until funds are exhausted. Scholarships will not be awarded to candidates who require remedial coursework or developmental education.


Participants must have between 0-30 earned academic credits to join IGNITE.  Enrollment in the program provides general admission into FAMU after graduating from a Florida College System institution. 

To be eligible for the FAMU Ignite Program, interested students must do the following:

Once a student has submitted their Ignite enrollment form, they will be contacted by their designated Enrollment Specialist with a “Welcome” email. The student’s designated Enrollment Specialist will guide the student through the transfer admissions process while still attending their current institution. 

Students who enroll in IGNITE will also have access to transfer student services staff, who will guide them through the transfer admissions process.  Additionally, IGNITE students can access curriculum maps, campus resources, and scholarships.

Eligible FAMU Ignite students will receive one (1) complimentary game ticket to all qualifying athletic events (excludes FAMU Homecoming and Florida Classic games).

Student membership to the Hansel Tookes Recreational Center (Please see a staff member at the recreational center for qualifying criteria).

The FAMU Ignite ID card is available to new IGNITE students with a collegiate grade point average of 3.0 or higher (4.0 scale).

The card grants FREE access to most FAMU athletic and on-campus events.  To receive the FAMU Ignite ID card, interested students must meet the following requirements:

  • Student must be currently enrolled in a Florida Community College
  • Student must have at least a 3.0 GPA
  • Student must not have more than 50 college credits earned.
  • Submit an unofficial college transcript to IGNITE@famu.edu to confirm eligibility.  Once confirmed, a clear headshot photo will be requested, and your new IGNITE Card will be created!
  • All IGNITE students are encouraged to serve as FAMU student ambassadors at their current institution.

FAMU and NFC agree to collaborate in innovative ways to promote expanded access for guaranteed admission for NFC Associate of Arts (AA) graduates and selected Associate of Science (AS) graduates to agreed-upon Florida A&M University baccalaureate programs consistent with university policy;

  • A sense of concurrent enrollment status for NFC students enrolled in identified transfer plans to include university advisors assigned to these students. A FAMU ID will also be issued to NFC Ignite students which would provide access to the Library, recreational centers, sporting events, etc. A picture ID must be provided by NFC Ignite students.
  • Expansion of FAMU financial aid resources to NFC students to support two-plus-two articulation agreements. IGNITE scholarships will be awarded ranging from $1,000 to $4,000 based on the following criteria and available funding.
